This year has been quite a year for me. It started out bad because of the losing my little cousin to stomach cancer. My cousin was very young and very beautiful. Losing someone that you care for it not the way to start the year.
Then I started developing the Life Skills group in February. I wrote out a proposal for my boss and we started the group in April. The life skills group was a very big success and is ongoing. The groups meet on Tuesday and Thursdays and the class is always full.
In June I started the project of being a Commissioner for the Disabled for the Long Beach community. In August I was appointed as the Commissioner for the Disabled.
In September I was asked by the director of Harbor Regional Center to be the Chair for two communities. Also I continue to be on the Board of Directors for Harbor Regional Center. I learned that I need to use my Accent 800 communication device to communicate effectively.
In November I got to meet with the Assemblymen Pat O’Donnell. I used my device to tell him about the importance about the housing crisis with the developmentally disabled community.
Also in November I started writing for the AAC language lab again. I also got an article about my autobiography published.
This month I will go on a cruise to Mexico. I hope to continue my advocacy with my device to Voice for my community. I wish all of you a Happy and healthy New Year!
