March Is Unplugging Month

Posted Mar 5, 2025 - 4:28pm

by Kristy Lipe, PRC-Saltillo Ambassador

Hello everybody! My name is Kristy Lipe and I'm originally from Memphis , Tennessee but I'm down here in Long Beach , Mississippi now. I'm 34 and I have cerebral palsy but that doesn't even stop me from doing much! I did Taekwondo for eight years and I'm a 3rd degree black belt and three time world champion in A T A. I have a continuing education certificate in leadership and  ministry from Moody Bible Institute . I'm a member at Northwood church and really loving it there!

One of the ways I communicate I need to unplug from my device is usually looking at my mom’s head meaning my brain is fried or I need a mental break . Especially after I’ve done a PRC-Saltillo  ambassador job speaking in front of people for a couple of hours. I do take my Accent 1400 most places but when we do the local aquarium, the beach or the movie I love just being present without something in front of me! Sometimes I flat out forget my device but it’s okay because I was able to be more present wherever we’re at and create awesome memories with people! This picture was at Disney On Ice with my aunt where I was unplugged for the afternoon! That way I didn’t have to look over my talker to watch the impressive performers! We had so much fun!
