Blackjack

I love to play blackjack at the casinos. Until about 3 years ago, I let my sister or my aide do all of the talking and gesturing to the dealers, when an idea came to me that I can make a blackjack page on my Accent 1400 (see attached) with all of the key words used for blackjack. In the past the pit bosses and dealers looked at my device and sometimes asked us a question about how does it work and that would be the end of it.

Then came my trip in June, while I was playing blackjack I had some good luck and I was doing good. However, on our last day there before we were to return home, a Pit Boss and some other men in suits came behind me and stood there for quite some time.  They didn’t ask me anything about my device which I would have been happy to explain what it is and how I use it.  They made me feel like they thought I was cheating (RainMan, perhaps) or that I was not supposed to be able to gamble.  I was extremely upset and told my sister, let’s just leave now instead of later that evening.

When I got home, I wrote a letter that I e-mailed to their consumer relations person which I found on their website. The person immediately e-mailed me back saying they will get back to me in a few days. The person did and the end result is I got an apology and a explanation that they were retraining the casino staff on how to deal (pun intended) with a person that uses a communication device. Also I got a gift card for a restaurant in their casino.

My advice is if you go to a casino, I would alert a pit boss or a dealer and show your communication device and explain this is how I talk and show them how it works.

Does anyone have similar experiences?
