At The Crossroads

Sometimes life can be unfair. Life can throw you face down in front of that finish line you are running towards. Life can definitely be unpredictable. And many times things do not work out as planned.

It was Independence Day 2017! My family had a plan to go to a church picnic followed by an amazing fireworks display. I was very excited. I enjoy watching magnificent fireworks.

So we loaded up and headed down the road. When we arrived at a T in the road; my mom said go right, but my dad thought left. We followed my dad’s hunch. And we went left. We drove, and drove, and then drove some more. Apparently, we shouldn’t have turned left.

By this time it was getting dark, and it was too late to turn around. We are going to miss the fireworks and be driving in the dark to who knows where. The fourth of July without fireworks just seems wrong. My dad and I were very disappointed. We had been looking forward to watching an incredible display, but instead we were heading home.

As the idea of no fireworks was weighing heavy on my heart, there in the distance beautiful explosions began to light up the night sky. We didn’t even know what town we were headed towards, but if we hurried, just maybe we’d be able to see some fireworks. I wondered, “Would it be possible for us to find a good place to watch them?”

What do you think happened? Well, we arrived in perfect time AND we found a great spot. As we sat outside with the van’s hatch opened, we watched the BEST fireworks display EVER!

Sometimes a wrong turn can be a bad decision but this time it worked out for the better. Or maybe your wrong turn could be God’s direction that is made perfectly just for you.

This is Life with Kyle and I will talk to you next week.
