When I was five years old , I moved out of my home, and I went to HMS (Home of the Merciful Savior). HMS School educates, nurtures, and cares for children and young adults with complex physical disabilities resulting from cerebral palsy, traumatic brain injury or other neurological impairments. There I learned how to use language boards and learned how to read. I stayed there for three years, and I moved back home to Williamsport. I went to school called Cripple Children School in Williamsport. They hired a teacher’s aide because I couldn’t write nor feed myself. We worked together for ten years.
When I was seventeen years old , I asked my dad for some friends because I saw my sisters going with their friends. So, dad was looking around for homes but not a regular nursing home with old people. He found a home in York , Pennsylvania. It is called The Margaret E. Moul Home . It is for Cerebral Palsy and other disabilities. It opened in 1982 , the same year that I moved in there.
In 1990 I got my first communication device which called a Light Talker and Liberator and Pathfinder and Accent 140O.
Currently, I am using an Accent 1400 with eyegaze. It makes me faster. I used to have a switch. I used to work for Dynavox as an ambassador, but when I quit, I changed back to PRC.
I like to help people and share what I know.
