My name is Nicole Kary. I’m 29 years old and I was diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy at the age of two. My Cerebral Palsy was caused by a doctor’s negligence. Cerebral Palsy comes in many different forms but in my case, I can't walk or talk. My parents wanted me to have as normal a childhood as possible.
In kindergarten I was introduced to the MAISD (an educational service agency) which provides communication devices to students who have disabilities if they can't talk and since I had no use of my hands, they gave me a device to use with my head with a head switch and a scanning program. When I was in the eleventh grade the MAISD introduced me to an Eye Gaze system. It was a Tobii and it used just a Keyboard and it was a good introduction to Eye Gaze.
In 2016 I was hired by MAISD to try out a new device and I loved it! It was the Accent device and the rest is history!
