Hey all, my name is Mike Hipple. I have cerebral palsy, but it doesn't stop me from living my life and giving back. I am living in Wisconsin and I love to talk about my state's history in assistive technology and AAC. When I get to talk to families I always say please remember to bring their child's device anywhere they go to let the child communicate and ask questions in different environments. So, the child understand that this is their voice and they can say anything that they need or want to. I have been using a communication device for 22 years and most of this time {17 years} I have been using a PRC device and the Minspeak system. I wrote a children's book about starting school, I was in school plays, I was a part of school clubs, I have written blogs and speeches, and I am active in my local community. I have done this and so much more on a PRC device and your students and child could do this too if you choose a PRC device or the app LAMP. I started WI Augmentative Alternative Communication [AAC] Network to support Wisconsin families and Professionals on their AAC journey. I am very very active in the national society for AAC. United States Society of Augmentative Alternative Communication [USSAAC] is the only society that works for and with family members , AAC communicators, and professionals. In my free time I love to watch sports, especially baseball. I am a huge fan of The Good Doctor, The Voice, Catfish: The TV Show, Law and Order, and Law and Order SVU. Happy to chat with anyone about AAC.
