Hi my name is Carson Sylvan Covey. I am a Colorado native and proud of it!
I have cerebral palsy. I have been using AAC since 2005. I'm an ambassador for PRC-Saltillo. My first device was the Pathfinder from PRC and in middle school I started using TouchChat from PRC-Saltillo on an iPad. I have been continually using TouchChat for all these years because the system has allowed me to use my personal voice in every aspect of my life including in the work I do on a daily basis.
I am a Disability Rights advocate. I speak on behalf of legislation in Colorado pertaining to the disabled population. I also recently spoke a White House Round Table in Washington DC regarding Medicaid waiver programs for the disabled community.
I am an audiology, speech and learning mentor for the Children’s Hospital Colorado and for a local school helping mentor kids with PRC-Saltillo devices!
I look forward to continuing my advocacy work and mentoring AAC users in the future to find their best voice.
