Enjoy the Eurovision Song Contest with a fun AAC twist! Learners will use their communication devices to play a live bingo game, watching out for glitter cannons, costume changes, and iconic songs while practising commenting, directing, and expressing pre

Bingo card and pen

 What you need:

  • A TV or livestream of the Eurovision Song Contest

  • Bingo-style checklists or visual cards for each player

  • AAC devices or communication boards

  • Optional: printed icons or sound buttons for fringe words (e.g., “glitter,” “score”)

 What to do:

  1. Before watching, assign each participant something to watch for (e.g., flag, costume change, mention of “Abba”).

  2. Use AAC to comment when their chosen item appears: “Look that,” “I see it!”

  3. Keep a fun tally of who spots the most moments. You could model words like  “Mine!” or “More!”

  4. Model reactions and interjections: “Wow!,” “That good,” or “Don’t like that.”

  5. Adapt the game with visuals, sounds, or prerecorded phrases for lower-pressure participation.

AAC Model Ideas by Level:

  • 1-word: “good,” “more,” “mine,” “off”

  • 2-word: “want again,” “mine look,” “turn up”

  • 3-word: “look that good,” “turn it off,” “I like that”

Functions Targeted:

  • Requesting: “Want again,” “Different”

  • Directing: “Look that,” “Turn it down”

  • Commenting: “Like it,” “Mine,” “That fun”

  • Refusing: “Turn off,” “Don’t like that”

  • Interjecting: “Wow!”
