Inspire kindness and gratitude with this activity celebrating heroes! Learners will use AAC to describe people they admire, give compliments, and create a visual “Hero Wall” as part of Random Acts of Kindness Day.
Pre-cut shapes (stars, shields, capes)
Markers, crayons, stickers
Glue, Sellotape, or Velcro
Pictures of real and fictional heroes (e.g., family, helpers, activists)
AAC devices or communication boards
Show images of different types of heroes. Ask questions like “Who helps you?”
Model using AAC: “She is kind,” “He helps people,” “My hero is grandma.”
Let each learner choose a shape and create their own hero using drawing, stickers, or words.
Attach the shapes to a “Hero Wall” while modelling AAC phrases.
Invite learners to share who they chose and why using AAC-supported sentences.
