“The Fundamentals of Caring” Movie review

Starring: Paul Rudd, Craig Roberts, Selena Gomez

This is my first time writing a movie review.  I watched this movie recently, and not only did it make me laugh it, made me proud.  It made me proud to know that there are people out there trying to help others with special needs. Just like when my sister came to get me from after my mother passed away. At the age 10 years old, she started to take care of me. She did this by enrolling me in school, taking me shopping for new clothes, getting me the services I needed to thrive, and loving me unconditionally. She did everything she could to make me happy and that she did and still does to this day. She continues to take care of me like Ben (Paul Rudd) took care of Trevor (Craig Roberts) in the movie. Ben lost his son and was going through a divorce when he looked to become a caregiver. Trevor liked Ben because he was able to put up with his sense humor during the interview.

I also learned that kids who have specials need aren’t always able to hang out with friends by themselves at the movies, mall, or even getting a bite to eat.  I was fortunate enough to have a best friend that my sister would let me go out with and let her drive the van for my wheelchair. I met my best friend when I was a freshman and she was a sophomore in high school. We had the same sports medicine class together.  We would go get Starbucks, talked about events and situations that happened in our lives, and we would go to the movies together. Going out with my best friend, Hailey, is similar to when Ben took Trevor on a road trip to see the world’s lamest attractions. They had many adventures on this road trip. They saw the world’s largest bull. They went to visit Trevor’s dad. They even picked up two young women, one who was looking for a ride and the other women who was as pregnant was stranded on the side of the road due to her car being broke down. They all went on the road trip together, they laughed, they talked, they cried, they screamed at each other all while creating a bunch of amazing memories together. This is exactly how my friendship is with my best friend Hailey. I am very thankful for the love and relationships I have with my sister and my best friend.
