It’s amazing to see how God has worked in my life the past four years—not only in my physical life but also in my spiritual life.
On August 31, 2011, I had surgery on my legs. My bones were twisted. During the previous year I had been hurting when I walked, so I had this surgery to straighten my bones. At that time I was 18, had just graduated from high school, and didn’t really know what God had planned next for me.
Little did I know, God would allow me to start writing a blog in March of 2012, or that He would give me desire to start painting again and start my own business called “Silent Inspirations.”
A couple of days after I had my surgery, I thought, “This is going to be a long journey.” Yes, it took a long time to regain the strength in my legs. I had to do therapy every day for a while. Did I enjoy it? No, I dreaded going! But I knew there would be an end to this trial I was going through.
During this time, I learned how to depend upon the Lord. It was my decision to make time for my relationship with God. My parents didn’t make me do it. It was a choice I alone had to make. I knew I couldn’t go through this on my own. I found a reference I wrote down in my journal. A few days before my surgery I wrote a long entry, including Isaiah 26:2-4, which says,
‘Open ye the gates, that the righteous nation which keepeth the truth may enter in. Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee. Trust ye in the LORD for ever: for in the LORD JEHOVAH is everlasting strength:’
Did I completely comprehend those verses at the time? No, but I knew I would soon. I learned that the Lord JEHOVAH is my everlasting strength.
I hope this post points you to God. That’s one of the reasons I started writing Going Through Trials With God. I want my life to bring glory and honor to the Lord. I don’t want to write in a way where I lift myself up and then I mention God at the end. No, I would like to show you what God started through my life, through every post I write. I hope you enjoy getting to know me better as a growing Christian and that you’re growing along with me. I hope the Lord encourages and blesses you as you read through this blog.
