Hello! My name is Porter Elliott and I'm 18 years old. I have a rare genetic disorder called DTDS (Dopamine Transporter Deficiency Syndrome) also known as Infantile Parkinson’s. I strive to be unique! I apply one of my favorite Youtuber’s mottos to my own life. “Just have some fun and play it differently”.
Currently I will be entering 11th grade at Pisgah High School. My favorite classes are ROTC, science and history. I am working hard on my reading skills to join in conversations with the people around me.
In my free time I have many different interests. I enjoy music. My favorite musicians are Calling All Captains, Monrovia and Youtuber CG5. I have a fun game I play when listening to music, I put the music into either Pirates or Vampires or occasionally Zombies categories. I also enjoy musicals whether they are movies or on stage. I love spending time with my family. We like TV and movies, watching YouTube and going to plays at our community theater. I also love collecting toys and playing video games. I have loved collecting Thomas and Friends trains since I was little which led to my passion with everything steam locomotives. I go to train expos and have been to a few train museums. I love playing all types of video games, but the jump scare ones are my favorite. Games such as Bendy and the Ink Machine, Hello Neighbor, and Five Nights at Freddy’s have been my favorites for years. My future dreams are to be a train conductor or a gaming youtuber and one day have a girlfriend I can take on dates.
I have been using the AAC device since preschool. In elementary school I started using a PRC-Satillo Accent 1000 with touch access. At the beginning of this past school year, I began using my Accent 1400 with an eye gaze. It still incorporates touch access as I learn to gain better control of my eyes.
