I was born with Cerebral Palsy (CP), I use a motorized wheelchair, and I communicate using an iPad w/the Touch Chat app. I have had experiences in the past where people have misjudged my abilities; assuming that I am less capable than I am.
I understand that many people have not had the opportunity to know or interact with someone with CP or who uses a communication device, and I am enthusiastic about educating others and answering questions. CP is a physical disability and does not impact my intellectual ability. I am a strong communicator, have a great sense of humor, and am active in my school and local communities. At school I have taken college preparatory courses including AP Biology and Leadership and I have my drivers permit. I also started an anime club and have worked as an assistant in the front office. In the Bellingham community I have volunteered at the YMCA and Wild Whatcom, leading youth summer program activities.
