We’re making a kindness chain to celebrate Anti-Bullying Week. Each link will have a compliment that someone gave or received. This activity helps us practice giving compliments while using our AAC devices.
Paper strips (approx. 10 cm long)
Markers or stickers
Glue or Sellotape
Optional: pre-written compliment cards, adaptive grips, AAC device
Give each participant 1–3 paper strips to write or choose compliments.
Model using AAC to say kind phrases like:
“You are helpful,” “I like your ideas,” “You make me laugh.”
Link the compliment strips together to form a paper chain.
Encourage group members to share their compliments aloud or using AAC.
Offer adaptations such as partner writing, sticker compliments, or symbol selections.
