Total Chaos

Coming out of my room, I moved a toy out of my normal walking path, when the sound of crying caused me to pause and reflect on all of the changes that have happened recently in our life.

We are fostering two kids who are family members. Their ages are three and one.  Thankfully, it is not long term.  Even though at times, I have to admit that they are very sweet.  As the older one enjoys helping my dad with feeding the chickens and dogs, the one-year-old is having a great feast off of our living room floor. He eats anything that he sees from a speck of dirt, leaves, or carpet-fibers to hair, shoes, toys, and even his clothes.

Even though my mom knew for a while that we would be watching the kids, reality kind of snuck up on us with a BOOM!  The life that we once knew suddenly changed dramatically.  Now there are baby-locks everywhere.  I thought that kids would be content to play with their own toys.  Boy was I wrong!  They want to play with everything but their toys.  We had to gate off the kitchen and the bathroom.  I feel like we are living in a prison where we have to go through lockdown every time we want to go anywhere in our home.

The first days were a complete disaster!  My mom had to come up with some sort of schedule fast.  And in the midst of all of this, I had a Skype presentation to do.

Usually, I do my presentation in our living room, but that wasn't going to work.  So, we decided to do it in my room which went very well except the kids began to yell.  And Gretchen thought it was my cat!  The baby does sound like a puppy sometimes, or even a wild animal, but not a cat.

The way things happen in life can sometimes seem strange and awkward to us. It seems we ask the question, "Why?" when life is difficult, but we don’t ask or appreciate when things are going good and smooth sailing.  I believe that everything happens for a reason.  Whether that thing is happening for a long time or for a short time, we know that God is in control.  He is with us no matter how long or difficult it may be.

This is Life with Kyle and I will talk to you next week.
