Meltdown

One year ago, my whole family was chosen by The Dream Factory to make a dream come true.  The Dream Factory is an amazing organization that makes the dreams of children with illnesses or disabilities come true.  One day a wonderful woman named Maureen came over to our house and asked me what my life dream was.  You know the rest of the story. In May, my whole family went to Florida; I got on a surfboard, and attacked the great blue ocean. But going to the beach wasn’t all we did in Florida.  We went to Disney, Universal, SeaWorld and others.

I want to tell you about something that happened when we went to Disney.  We went on so many rides, but I was thankful to have my brother with us because I am a chicken! Really, I always turn into a chicken when I see a huge roller coaster.  Like most brothers, he pushed me to go on ALMOST ALL of the roller coasters.  Then we all got some ice cream to try and cool down.  My mom got a vanilla ice cream cone.  It was HUGE! I think it was the biggest ice cream cone that I have ever seen! Obviously it was hot outside because it was Florida.  Instantly, my mom’s ice cream began to melt.  She called out to us for help. She started taking huge bites off this ice cream cone in hopes to stop it dripping.  But it dripped and dripped and finally it was all consumed. Mom had ice cream all over her hands. Personally I have never liked ice cream cones.  I always like to have a cup or bowl so I can hold it and eat it with a spoon.

Ice cream is really like life. You always think that you can hold it in your own hands, and have everything planned without any help from God. You got this! But when things begin to melt and slip out of your hands, you cry out for the Lord.  You don’t cry out for Him before everything crumbles. What if He actually makes things crumble and fall apart, just to get you to realize that you really need Him? He can use anything to prove this point, even an ice cream cone.

This is Life with Kyle and I will talk to you next week.
